Many products claim to support respiratory or lung health. That's different from demonstrating that a product reduces EIPH during intense exercise. Why the Run Matters
EIPH Doesn't Start After the Run.
During a barrel run, oxygen demand and airflow increase dramatically. Horses generate increasingly negative pressures to pull large volumes of air through the respiratory system. At the same time, pulmonary vascular pressures rise. These extreme pressure forces across the delicate pulmonary capillaries are the cause of the vessel failure that results in EIPH. That's why reducing unnecessary respiratory load during the run matters.
