How FLAIR Strips Protect Horses
FLAIR® Equine Nasal Strips are drug-free, self-adhesive strips that support the soft tissues of the nasal passage that collapse during exercise. The Strips are clinically proven to:
- Make breathing easier
- Reduce energy consumption
- Reduce Fatigue
- Reduce exercise induced lung bleeding
- Quicken recovery

Nasal Passages
During exercise soft tissues overlying the nasal passages collapse, causing increased resistance to breathing. FLAIR® Strips support the soft tissues to reduce collapse and make it easier to take in oxygen.
Throat
Horses struggling to breathe due to throat conditions can benefit because FLAIR Strips making it easier to breathe air into the upper airway passage in front of the region of the throat condition.
Lungs
FLAIR Strips reduce lung stress and the stress on blood vessels in the lungs during exercise. The Strips are clinically proven to reduce exercise induced pulmonary hemorrhage (EIPH) by reducing resistance to breathing.
Diaphragm
During intensive breathing the diaphragm acts as a plunger synchronized with the motion of the limbs to overcome airway resistance. Breathing can consume 15-20% of oxygen that otherwise goes to the skeletal muscles to power performance. FLAIR Strips have been clinically proven to reduce the energy cost of breathing up to 6% during intensive exercise.
Muscles
Energy consumption and diversion of blood oxygen to the efforts of breathing compromises muscle performance, accelerating fatigue, reducing stride efficiency and diminishing both power and speed. In addition to being clinically proven to conserve up to 6% of energy consumption during intensive exercise, FLAIR Strips have also been proven to increase the time before fatigue sets in.

How do Flair Strips Work?
Every Horse. Every Breath.

Shape Memory Supports
Spring-Like action gently supports the nasal passags, reducing airway resistance and improving airflow.
Proprietary Adhesive
Gentle adhesive simply sticks to the horse's nose for quick, easy application and remoal.
Drug Free
Completely free of drugs and medications, and clinically proven to make breathing easier and reduce EIPH.

“As a veterinary physiologist, I have dedicated my research to understanding the cardiopulmonary challenges faced by performance horses, particularly during intense exercise. FLAIR Equine Nasal Strips provide a simple yet effective solution to help manage EIPH, bleeding in the lungs. By stabilizing the nasal passages, the Strip enhances airflow, reduces EIPH, reduces energy consumption and fatigue and thus reduces the risk of lung damage during competition. I have observed that FLAIR Equine Nasal Strips support a horse's performance and overall respiratory health, making it a valuable device for trainers, owners, and veterinarians alike. This has a very significant impact on the health, welfare and performance of the horse.”

“ As a lifelong equestrian and barrel racer, I understand the demands placed on our horses during competition. FLAIR Equine Nasal Strips are an invaluable tool for improving performance while prioritizing respiratory health. I've witnessed how these Strips reduce the risk of exercise-induced pulmonary hemorrhage, allowing horses to breathe easier and perform at their best. I strongly recommend FLAIR strips to fellow riders and trainers who want to support their horses in achieving optimal performance without compromising their well-being”

“ High Performance is all about marginal gain and supporting the horses’ health and wellbeing in the best possible way – and of course leaving no stone unturned. With this, the use of Flair Strips has for over 10 years been an important piece of our ‘Horse Management jigsaw puzzle’ – all parts together allowing the horses to stay mentally and physically healthy and perform at their best.”

“ If you see me play you see that I use them on all my horses. Long term we’re seeing better results with decreased in injuries, horses being able to play more during the chukker and recovering faster. You see a big difference when using the product. At the end of the day, it’s so important for us to take care of our horses and we try everything in our barn to do so. This is one of those few products that we would do anything to get our hands on. From FL to Argentina, they always go with me.”

“I have been a user of FLAIR® Equine Nasal Strips for over 15 years. In a sport where seconds make all the difference, I believe that FLAIR Strips give me an edge. I have seen first-hand the difference that FLAIR Strips can have on my horses' breathing. Not only do the Strips make breathing easier, but they also help maintain peak performance through even the toughest of courses and recover faster.”

“My family and I have been using FLAIR® Strips for years, and they’ve become a staple in our program. I know how important it is for my horses to breathe freely and recover quickly — that’s what keeps them performing at their best run after run. FLAIR Strips help reduce the strain on their lungs, which means less fatigue, faster recovery, and happier, healthier horses overall. Every time I step into the arena, whether it’s barrels, poles, or breakaway, my horses are wearing a FLAIR Strip. It gives me peace of mind knowing I’m doing everything I can to help them feel and perform their best. When competing, the small details make all the difference — and for us, FLAIR is one of those details we never skip.”
