The Standard of Proof
What Has Actually Been Proven to Reduce EIPH?
Many products make claims that they support respiratory or lung health. That's different than showing that the product reduces exercise induced pulmonary hemorrhage.
“Furosemide is often used to control EIPH by reducing pulmonary capillary pressures. It and use of FLAIR Nasal Strips are the only proven means to effectively mitigate pulmonary hemorrhage.”

The Evidence
Don't Just Take Our Word for It. Look at the Data.
Several controlled research studies show that FLAIR Strips reduce EIPH. In one study, FLAIR Strips were directly compared to furosemide (Lasix) and control horses. Both FLAIR Strips and furosemide significantly reduced pulmonary hemorrhage compared with control.

Why the Run Matters
EIPH Occurs During the Run.
During intense exercise, pulmonary vascular pressures rise while increasingly negative airway pressures develop as the horse moves enormous volumes of air through the respiratory system. The resulting pressure stress across delicate pulmonary capillaries causes vessel rupture that results in blood in the airways — EIPH. That's why reducing unnecessary respiratory load during the run matters.
Nose
Every breath enters here. The nasal passages are the first—and narrowest—point in the airway.
Airways
Negative pressure builds as the horse pulls huge volumes of air through the trachea and bronchi.
Lungs
Extreme pressure across delicate pulmonary capillaries causes the bleeding known as EIPH.
How FLAIR® Strips Work
Make Breathing Easier Where the Airway Is Most Vulnerable.
Horses are obligate nasal breathers. During intense exercise, the nasal passages are a major source of airway resistance. The unique design of FLAIR® Strips supports the soft tissues over the nasal passages to help reduce tissue collapse, airway resistance, and the work required to breathe.
- Supports Nasal Passages
- Reduces Airway Resistance
- Reduces Respiratory Load
- Reduces Negative Pressure Required to Breathe
- Clinically Proven to Reduce EIPH Severity
EIPH Isn't the Whole Respiratory Story
Every Barrel Horse Is a Respiratory Athlete.
Your horse doesn't have to be a known bleeder to benefit from easier breathing with FLAIR Strips.
Easier Breathing
Reduce nasal airway resistance and the unnecessary work of breathing.
EIPH
Clinically proven to reduce the severity of exercise-induced pulmonary hemorrhage.
Recovery
Reducing unnecessary respiratory work during intense exercise conserves energy for the horse's overall effort and recovery.
The Run is When It Matters.
Make breathing easier. Reduce respiratory load. Reduce the severity of EIPH.
